(:00) (TOP) What is: “Omni Automation?”

(:02) (TOP) “Omni Automation” is the set of automation tools, included with the applications from the Omni Group: OmniFocus, OmniOutliner, OmniGraffle, and OmniPlan.

(:17) (TOP) For many Omni customers, integration of these automation tools, simply involves selecting from hundreds of free Omni Automation plug-ins; activating an “Install Link,” and approving the installation.

(:30) (TOP) Once installed, plug-ins can be triggered by keyboard shortcuts or from the Automation Menu.

(:37) (TOP) They can quickly automate complex processes, such as the export and sharing of data between applications.

(:45) (TOP) In addition, Omni Automation also integrates with Apple’s Shortcuts technology…

(:51) (TOP) …expanding the scope and abilities of Shortcuts workflows, to integrate directly with Omni applications and their documents.

(:59) (TOP) Through Shortcuts, Omni Automation is provided access to system services and applications, resulting in very useful productivity tools that make it easier to get things done.

(1:11) (TOP) Omni Automation plug-ins and Shortcuts, provide an excellent way to automate your production scenarios.

(1:18) (TOP) And for those customers who require greater customization, Omni Automation integrates robust JavaScript support, providing full scriptability, regardless of which Apple device you are using.

(1:30) (TOP) Every Omni application, includes a Console window, into which Omni Automation scripts, targeting the host application’s scripting interfaces, can be entered and run.

(1:42) (TOP) And to enable scripts to be hosted externally, and to provide a mechanism for applications to automate the transfer and control of data between them…

(1:52) (TOP) …every Omni Automation script can be expressed as encoded “Script U R L’s,” or “Script Links.”

(1:59) (TOP) These script links can be embedded within web pages, triggerable via user interaction.

(2:06) (TOP) Script links can be integrated with networked data sources, to automate the transfer and formatting of information.

(2:15) (TOP) And they can be generated and triggered by third-party apps, to replicate and add data, directly to Omni applications.

(2:22) (TOP) Omni Automation also integrates industry-standard RESTful API, for secure network communications.

(2:30) (TOP) Built-in support for HTTP Requests, and Keychain Credentials, enables Omni Automation scripts and plug-ins to securely request and retrieve data from internet services.
